Des Moines Zoo
We headed to Des Moines for the weekend to visit some friends, Todd and Bridgit and their 2 boys, Calvin and Carson. Saturday morning we headed up there. We enjoyed a BBQ Saturday night and caught up with Jim and Tammy and their kids Riley and Davis. All the kids had fun running and playing all evening. They did a lot of laughing and giggling, and got along very well. Sunday morning we went to the Zoo. It was a great time for the kids.
Lauren is waiting for her turn to ride the train. She loved riding the red train. She said it was her favorite part of the Zoo.
Watching and feeding the fish.
On the train. When we tell Lauren to smile she gets this big cheesy fake smile usually, but this is a good one!

Lauren loves to feed the animals. She could have stayed here the whole day. She was asleep in the car with in 10 minutes and slept half the trip back home! We had a great weekend in Des Moines.

Go to Zoo Today?
Each day at some point in the day Lauren asks us "Go to zoo today?" She has a very serious look on her face each time. Ever since we went to the Omaha Zoo about a month ago she has wanted to go back. She says "See elephants, monkeys, fishes, giraffes." It breaks my heart to say each day "not today honey." We are heading to Des Moines for Memorial Day weekend and did you know they have a Zoo! We are also heading to St. Louis for a few days the first week of June so we have lots of Zoo trips coming up. Lauren should be very excited!

Meet me at the Playground
This was a Parents as Teachers event in Lee's Summit on Friday. I took the day off to take Lauren. Since it was so cold and windy out they moved the event inside for the kids to play. The main attraction is getting to ride a yellow school bus. If you know Lauren, you know how much she loves to see the yellow buses. Each morning when I take her to daycare they are all parked at the CVS and Walgreens in between school runs and she gets so excited every morning to see them. She says "yea, yellow buses!" She claps and smiles and starts counting them. Every morning she does this. She is also able to spot a yellow bus anywhere in the city. Whenever we are out running errands she sees yellow buses long before I do. One of her friends from daycare was also at the event. They were able to play and I was able to visit with her mom. We had a lot of fun and it was a great way to spend the morning, free entertainment for her!
