World Series Champions- The Kansas City Royals 2015

What an amazing season these Kansas City Royals gave us.  These last 2 seasons have brought baseball back to Kansas City and given our girls the opportunity to love the sport of baseball.  (Something I never had growing up.)  The past several weeks, and even the last 2 months, every game has been on in our house.   Sometimes more than one TV on in the house so we don't miss a thing.  Lauren has loved it.  Addison has not.  Lauren said this morning "what do we do now that baseball is over."  Addison said "yea, no more Royals."

Monday morning I stopped at the gas station and picked up a newspaper for a little piece of history to never be forgotten.  I got 2 papers, one for each girl.

Lauren loved watching all the games with Mark this year.  She loved going out to the stadium to watch the games.  Each morning she woke up she would get Mark's I-pad and go to you tube and look at the highlights from the game the night before.  Every single morning.

This is pretty much how Addison felt about the games.  But, to her credit, when things were exciting she would be sitting right there with us clapping and cheering.  It was just the innings in between that were boring...sometimes they are.  I have to agree with her.

Halloween night, after trick or treating, the three of us stayed up to watch the game.

Addison fell asleep almost instantly when I put this blanket on her!

Sunday afternoon we had the opportunity to see the Budweiser Clydesdales.  They were in the parking lot of a local restaurant for all to see.  That was fun!  The girls enjoyed it!

There were 4 or 5 of these trucks to transport the clydesdales.  Seeing the clydesdales got us ready for the game Sunday night when the Royals finally took the crown!

It was a long game, pitched really well by the Mets, and by the Royals for that matter.  However, Lauren could just not stay awake.

Neither could Addison for that matter.  Addison slept on the floor for several hours until I took her upstairs and put her in bed.  Lauren took a little cat nap...for maybe 20 minutes and then was ready to stay up for the rest of the game!

It was an amazing ending to the World Series.  Top of the 9th inning and we are down 2-0.  We scored 2 runs in the top of the 9th and that took the game into extra innings where we ended up winning the World Series in 12 innings with a final score of 7-2.  I have some fantastic videos of Mark and Lauren going crazy, and if I can figure out how to get them on here I will!  It was an incredible ending.  So much fun!

I figured I should include a picture of myself as well since I was around!  Sunday night during game 5 at the break after the 8th inning I went up stairs to wash my face, take out my contacts, put on PJ's and crawl into bed.  Something told me to go back downstairs and not crawl into bed.  Good thing I did or I would has missed an amazing inning!  But, I told Lauren "no pictures of Mommy!"

The parade was Tuesday and apparently it was amazing.  I did not go, but Mark did.  I did however walk down to Union Station before 8:00 and this was the scene.  6 hours before the rally was supposed to start.  It was an incredible atmosphere.

This picture taken from the Kansas City Star shows the Liberty Memorial lawn during the rally.  Such an amazing sight to see.

Thank you Royals for giving our family some amazing memories this year through the playoffs and the World Series.  We loved every minute of this ride.  Can't wait till opening day next year!  Go Royals!

Lauren's Love For The Royals

I  can't pinpoint exactly when her love for the Royals began, but I can only imagine it started last fall when this Royals team brought life back to Kansas City with their amazing run last year, their entire amazing season this year, and now this incredible play off run.

This girl was able to attend a play off game with her Daddy and definitely brought some luck to our Royals.  Mark picked her up from school early (yes, we took her out of school to go to a Royals game) and there were able to see a WIN from the Royals.  Mark said it was amazing for both of them!

Then I was lucky enough to be Mark's date to the next playoff game.  Game 1 of the ACLS series against the Blue Jays.  So much fun.

But let's back up to last season.  At some point in the playoff run, I went to the sporting goods store late at night to pick up Royals shirts for the girls.  I decided we all needed new Royals apparel.  These shirts have been worn over and over and over again with the winning season these Royals have given us.

We went to 5, or maybe 6 games this year.  Last year I think we went to 1 (maybe 2.)  Addison's love for the Royals is simply not there.  She thinks the games are boring, only wants to go to the playground (which means I am missing the game as well) and asks me almost every night "Do we have to watch the Royals game again."  Um, yes.  Yes we do.  We watched every single game this year at some point or another.  (Live, TV, online, etc...) This game we headed out early and got an autograph from Greg Holland.

It was a gorgeous Friday afternoon when Mark and Lauren went to the game.  Lauren knows all the players, all their numbers, every position, and almost all of the pitchers. This past summer when a game of Jeopardy was played and the topic was the Royals players, Lauren trumped all the boys and got all the answers right. The teachers were impressed.  We were not at all surprised.  She loves the Royals.

Lauren even did a presentation this fall about the Royals.  She had to choose a topic she was passionate about...and you guessed it. She chose the Royals.  Specifically, Alex Gordon.  Who is her favorite player....most days. Some days it's Salvy, Cain..and if you know Lauren you know that Hosmer is her crush :)

I even got the opportunity to attend a post season game last Friday.  It was awesome.  It was a gorgeous Friday evening, although a little chilly when the sun went down.  All 3 of us now own Take October sweatshirts.  I bought mine first, then Lauren bought hers, and Mark decided he needed one as well.  We love our Royals.

The post season atmosphere was amazing.

We even saw Marlin's Man.  If you don't know about him...click on the link.  He has become a Kansas City favorite.

It's all in who you know.  That is how Mark got tickets for this game and the game with Lauren.  We were able to purchase tickets from friends.  We were able to go to the Budweiser tailgate and drink as much as we wanted...for free...because of someone we know!

Then there is Moose man...who apparently lives in Lee's Summit, less than a mile from us!  Crazy small world.

Of course, I had to get a picture with him.  Everyone does.  Can you believe he brings those antlers to every single game.  Every one!

Attending a play off game with Mark was amazing.  I really hope we can attend more together and I know Lauren does too.  She loves to Royals.

We are hoping the excitement with the Royals continues for years to come.  Maybe, just maybe, Addison will come around and love these Royals as much as the rest of us!  But for now, lets take the crown and head to the  World Series for a 2nd straight year!  Go Royals!

Royals Fan Fest

Mark and Lauren hit the Royals Fan Fest last Friday night.  Mark kept saying he was going to blog about it himself, but still hasn't, so it's me blogging....

Back on October when Mark went to game 6 of the World Series he bought baseballs for the girls.  Well, they were different.  One had signatures of all the players, the other one didn't.  Lauren got the one without the signatures and she was so disappointed.  So, Mark promised her she would get her baseball signed (for real) by a Royals player.

We are learning that Addison really has no interest in anything sports.  So, it was a special night for Mark and Lauren at the Fan Fest.  Here they are in front of the ALCS trophy.

They got pretty close to Perez several times.

Lauren was doing her best to get as close to Eric Hosmer as she could...she has a slight crush on him!

Perez, Hosmer, and Moustakas and a few others were up on stage talking.

Waiting over an our for an autograph.  When you get in line you have no idea who you are going to get.  Of course, Lauren was hoping for Hosmer...but she got Moustakes- which is awesome as well!  He signed her baseball and signed a paper for Addison as well.

Mark and Lauren had a great time and Mark said it was a ton of fun.  Lot's of fans there supporting our Royals.  I can't wait for another fun season of baseball!

Summer and Baseball

It's just not summer if you don't go to a baseball game.  Royals game to be exact.  This weekend was Commerce Day at the K.  Commerce bank does this every summer, although the past few summers it was out at the Sporting Park to see the soccer team play.  We were back at the Royals stadium this summer and it was hot!  We hit the BBQ tent before the game for dinner and then went straight to the water at the playground to cool off!

Addison had a blast getting soaked!

Lauren and Killian had fun on the playground.  We usually go to the game with the Wrights since they work at Commerce Bank as well.  Here they are in 20112010,  We always have a great time with them!

We parked so far away from the BBQ tent what we hitched a ride on a golf cart.  The benefits of having small kids with you!

We stopped in the gift shop to cool off for a while...

Then we got snow cones and headed to our seats.

The kids were hot...but wet from the water so they were fine!

The girls wanted to go up to the very top to watch the game...so up we went.  They love sitting at the top watching the game. They love to be able to see the whole field and see how small the players are!

We stayed until the end and watched the Royals win.  That was fun!

They could run the bases on the Little K after the game.  They loved it.

Then we had a nice lady snap a picture of us (since Addison's attempt at a picture cut our heads off!)

Then we tried to get a family picture, but Lauren wouldn't join us...so it's just the 3 of us!
