Lauren's Closet

Lauren's closet is not nearly as impressive as Addison's closet.  It is much easier to clean out Lauren's closet than Addison's.  I have tried to figure out why...but I have not come up with anything yet!  Several of Lauren's winter clothes she will be able to wear again in the fall (shirts and dresses.)  She is growing so fast that her jeans and khaki's are getting to be too short for her tall skinny legs!  So, there are several things that I have just left in the closet, and shoved to the back.
Here is Lauren's collection of dresses.  Summer, spring and winter all mixed together. Summer (tank tops) to the front, spring (short sleeve) next, and winter (long sleeve in the back.)  Some of her fancy Christmas and Easter dresses are also here.  If you know Lauren, you know she loves to wear dresses.  I have made a deal with her that Tuesday and Thursday are jeans/khaki day.  Every other day of the week she can wear dresses...and she does!

These are her winter long sleeve shirts.  They are in perfect condition since she only wore them a handful of times (Tuesdays and Thursdays!)  There are some summer dresses left over from last summer that I think she will be able to wear again.  She has been begging to wear those dresses..but if you notice they are tank tops...brrr....

Capri's and short sleeve shirts.  If I was smart I would not buy anymore.  She has about 10 shirts here.  That is all she really needs.  Again, dresses is what she wants.  She can run and play in those just fine.

Lauren's shoes are not nearly as impressive as Addison's shoes!  Mainly because Lauren would be happy with one pair of shoes to wear all winter long.  She does not care about matching her outfit, or that mommy bought her 3 pairs of shoes for winter.  If you look back in the fall you will see the cowboy boots she wore until I got rid of them.  She had a pink pair and a black pair.  She absolutely loved them.  And, they were so cute on her.  This summer all she wants to wear is flip flops.  Fine with me!  I bought her white sandals for her Easter dress, and I also bought her some dressier pink flip flops.  Hopefully she will wear both.

These shoes are her favorite.  Can't you tell?  I bought them to go with her Christmas dress and she has not taken them off since...that is obvious huh?  She wears her "shiny" shoes EVERYDAY.  And to be honest, I really don't mind.  Shoes are  not a battle I am going to fight...but soon I will have to throw these shoes away as well.  It is hard because she is wearing about a 10 1/2 right now, but I bought her size 11 shoes for spring and summer and they are a little too big....and well it is too cold to wear flip flops just yet (although several friends at school are wearing them and I have heard all about how "so and so's Mommy lets them wear flip flops to school."  So for now we are stuck with these...and Lauren loves them!

8 Years

Eight years ago today I married the man of my dreams.  Little did I know how happy he would make me.  Our wedding day was a sunny breezy 45 degrees.  I was freezing in my spaghetti strap dress out on the Royals field taking pictures.  Opening day was a few short days later so the field looked amazing.  No one know we would be announced from the dugout when we arrive to the reception at the Royals Stadium Club.  The wedding went off without a hitch, the reception was incredible (it included a KU win that night...I think over Arizona) and the honeymoon in St. Lucia was more than I could even imagine.  Thank you to Mark's parents who flew us first class to St. Lucia.  We were pampered from the beginning and enjoyed a week at the Sandals resort.  Amazing.

Even more than being an amazing husband...who helps out around the house, cleans out the dishwasher (without being asked,) helps give baths at night and puts the girls to bed, starts and folds laundry, vacuums (because the carpet looks so much better after it is vacuumed,)  and kisses me each night when I go to bed, Mark is an incredible father.  He adores the girls, keeps the girls in their place when they are pushing their limits, and actually enjoys playing Candyland with them.

I wish I could scan some pictures from our wedding and honeymoon, but time just got away from me.  So this is what you get.  Pictures from Thanksgiving and Christmas (and of course the birth of our girls and our 1st Disney vacation.  I say 1st because there will be many more!)

We enjoyed dinner at The Melting Pot this weekend and a movie.  The food was awesome as always.  We are going out to dinner tonight with the girls to celebrate our anniversary today.  I would not have it any other way.  Happy Anniversary Mark.

Addison's Closet

So I spent last weekend rearranging Addison's closet.  A very fun task for me.  You might ask "how do you rearrange a closet."  Well, with the change of season you have to get rid of the winter sweaters, lined jeans, winter dresses, etc...(although she could probably still wear some things this weekend!)  I have been getting out Lauren's old stuff and buying some new things for Addison, but it is hard to remember what you have when it is shoved in the back of the closet, still in bags, not washed yet, and hung up nicely in the closet.

So, all her spring clothes are now hung up in the closet.  Dresses on top, short sleeve shorts on bottom, and long sleeve/winter stuff on the right...things she will still wear until it is really warm.  If you hear me say I am going shopping for Addison....tell me to STOP...she has plenty of clothes...all she needs is a few more shorts and we are set!

These are her spring dresses and a few summer dresses (tank top and sleeveless.)  I think there are close to 20 dresses :)

Khaki's, capri's, jean skirts, and short sleeve shirts.  Several new ones, but some old ones from Lauren that still look new (I don't think it is fair to put Addison is old, faded, stained, balled up clothes.)  So, she gets her fair share of new clothes.

The winter stuff she can still wear until it gets really warm outside.  Long sleeve shirts and dresses (in the back.)

Oh, and shoes.  The girl has plenty.  18 pairs right there if you count them...plus 2 pairs of slippers.  They are both size 6 and 7 (she is in about 6 1/2 right now.  She can still fit in some of the size 6 shoes, and some of the 7 are still a little big...but again, I have to get them out to see what I have.)  3 pairs of white sandals...hmmm...one is a size 6 and two are size 7.  They were all Laurens.  I am not real sure why I have 2 pairs of white sandals that are size 7 and completely clean (so never worn.)

So again, if I tell you I am going shopping for Addison...tell me to STOP...she has plenty of summer clothes!

Sisters

I made this over the last few days.  I got a free 8x8 scrapbook coupon from Target for a shutterfly scrapbook.  Here it is.  I can't wait to get it in the mail in a few days.  I just had to pay for the shipping and that was it!

Playing in the Rain

I love weekends when we have absolutely nothing planned and this was one of those weekends...it was great!  Saturday morning Mark finalized things with a painter so we are set to get the house painted this summer.  The only thing exciting about this is that we are going to get the master bedroom and bathroom painted!  That means I get to redecorate!  Yea :)  I went shopping Saturday afternoon...looking for khaki capri's, and I came home with jean capri's and khaki shorts..oh well.  The girls wanted to play outside this weekend and the rain did not stop them...

Lauren loves to dance, and well the umbrella was just getting in her way.

Look at those moves!

Addison thinks she is hot stuff holding the umbrella by herself.  She just laughs, smiles and looks at the umbrella.  She loves it.  I worked very hard trying to get her potty trained this weekend.  We sat on the potty every 30 minutes Saturday morning for a few hours, and again on Sunday afternoon for a few hours.  We are getting there...slowly but surely!

Sunday was a great day.  We headed to church, enjoyed donuts at church, then stopped at the store real quick.  I took a nap while the girls napped and then I headed out for a run.  2 more weeks until the 10K.  I ran 6 miles yesterday and it was hard.  It was very windy and I did a very hilly run.  I had to stop a few times and walk here and there, my legs were burning so bad from the hills...but I made it home...over an hour later.  Running for an hour...that is a long time!

We headed to Home Depot to prepare for some spring projects.  We had to get ant killer (of course) and some wall paper remover for Addison's room.  It is almost time to change her to a big bed and re-do her room.  I can't wait.  We were outside all afternoon talking to the neighbors, drinking beer (Mark and Mike,) and watching the kids play.  It was a great Sunday and a great weekend.

Westport Run

This morning I headed down to Westport for my first run of the season.  I finally decided Wednesday night to do this 4 mile run.  I have been training for a 10K (3 more weeks) so I was in shape and ready to go for a 4 mile run.  I met up with with one of Mark's buddies (well, mine too) before the start of the race.  It was nice to have someone at the starting line to hang out with.  I told him not to let me slow him down.  I am about a 10 minute miler...today I ran in 38 minutes 26 seconds.  I am pleased with that time.  My first mile was 11 minutes (which is way too slow) so I really picked it up the last 3 miles and made up some time.  It was pretty crowded at the beginning and that really slowed me down.  Plus, it seemed like it took about a mile for my legs to warm up.  I did the last mile in probably 8 1/2 to 9 minutes (it was all downhill!)  Mark and the girls were there at the end to cheer me on...although Mark almost missed me it was so crowded.  It is so awesome to have them down there at the end.  I love it!

(You know that is a smile, right?  She is happy to see me!)

For lunch we headed to Joe's pizza (the little pizza shop in the back of Kelly's.)  I can't even believe I had my girls there...basically at Kelly's bar...but it was really fun.  They had a special on the pizza so we enjoyed a great lunch for a great price.  Oh the memories of Westport...which was the place to be in my 20's.  Power and Light was not around yet...
I think Lauren was probably checking out one of the crazy runners.  We saw several, which makes it fun for the girls.  Green man, Oscar the grouch (complete with a trash can), several people dressed up for St. Patty's day, and Slugger was down at the race as well.

3 week from now Mark and I will do a 10K.  A first for both of us.  Then I am planning on doing Hospital Hill 10K  (HILLS, HILLS, HILLS) and Mark is going to start training for a triathlon in August.  Lauren asked me when she can start running with me (which I think is awesome.)  I told her maybe when she is 8.  I would love to have my girls running in these races with me.  That would be so much fun.

Pajama Day

It was pajama day at our house.  Little one is sick (again.)  This time with (massive) diarrhea.  It was all  yesterday (Wednesday) but she has to be diarrhea free for 24 hours before sending her back to daycare.  So, I got an extra day at home with my girls.  It was awesome.  I got some laundry done, made some hair bows, cleaned out Addison's closet, and took a nap.
The girls played really well together this morning while I was doing things around the house.  Addison looked so crazy with her rain boots on, mismatched PJ's (because most of them have poop on them) and her crazy hair!
Lauren was in her PJ's too most of the day.  Finally after naps (Addison and I took a nap, Lauren did not.  She laid in my bed quietly resting and I am sure I fell asleep for a while.  She is such a good kid) we finally got dressed and headed out to Lake Jacoma to see the buffalo and the deer.  There were lots of deer out, and we fed them carrots.  The girls loved it.  Then we headed to the park for a while before dinner.  It was a great day to be outside.
This is our new favorite game.  I highly recommend it.  It says ages 4 and up, but Addison has played with us several times and does a great job.  We love family game night around here.  It has been happening a lot with this game.

So Grown Up

Lauren got her haircut Saturday morning and it is soooo cute.  She likes to wear it long (as she would say.)  No cute bows, no headbands, no clippies, nothing...so I told our haircut lady to chop it!  I love it, Lauren loves it and Mark loves it!  We will probaby grow it out for summer since she loves pony tails in the summer...but when school rolls around in August it will probably look like this again.  Thanks Ms. Casey.  You did an awesome job!

Lauren and Luke

Luke was in town this weekend.  That always means fun for Lauren, and well Addison too.  She is starting to fall in love with Luke as well.  He is such a great kid!
We had a birthday party at the hotel for Luke and Lauren (who both have February birthday's.)
Luke's Mom (my cousin Lora) made these awesome cakes for Lauren and Luke.

Didn't she do a great job???

Lauren especially loved the singing card that Luke picked out.

We can't wait to see Luke again...Thanks Lora for a great party!
