This week we did a Staycation with the girls and went to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun on day 1 (days 1, 2, and 3 included GWL.) Our plan was to go to WOF, but since Wednesday was the hottest day of summer thus far, we decided to pack our swimsuits and hit OOF as well! Glad we did because it was so hot.
Camp Snoopy was a hit, and an added bonus was to run into Snoopy...I can't imagine how hot Snoopy was...we were dripping in sweat in our tank tops.
We met a friend out there who got us in for a great price! We came in the back entrance and rode the carousel before heading to Camp Snoopy.
The taxi cars were Lauren's favorite...she drove them 3 times.
Of course, Addison loved this ride...and Lauren hated it...she was in tears. Poor girl. WOF big rides are just not her thing yet.
If Addison would have been tall enough she would have ridden the kid roller coaster by herself. Mark was such a good sport climbing into that little thing.
The looks on the girls faces crack me up. Lauren saw a bee and was totally freaking out and crying. Addison was standing in the car because the seats were so hot it was burning her legs to sit down...hence the frown.
But, Lauren perked up with this ride.
Addison loved the bugs...
and the swings. We only lasted about 1 1/2 hours at WOF before making our way over to OOF. It was so hot outside and it was not even noon yet.
The girls wanted Mark to ride the Detonator before we left WOF and he did! Such a great sport.
Oceans of Fun was a total blast. I had not been there in years. The girls absolutely loved it. We spent a lot of time in the wave pool, the lazy river, and another pool there. Both girls were able to touch in all the pools we were in, so Mark and I both took one girl and swam with them..without life jackets...which they loved!
We met up with my friend Deb, who rented a Cabana, so we were able to hang out in the shade for some breaks and snacks. I have no idea why, but the sunscreen I had (for myself, not the girls) was NOT WATERPROOF. Oh my, I am so burned. I reapplied 3 times that day, figuring I was fine....and I would have been, minus the water...Once we got to Great Wolf Lodge that night I realized what had happened. Not fun at all.
We decided to leave OOF around 4:30 so we could get checked into Great Wolf Lodge. The girls definitely could have stayed longer, but I wanted to get some swimming in at GWL Wednesday night as well (since that place cost a fortune...but well worth it!) Addison was asleep almost as soon as we got changed and she was into the stroller. After a quick 20 minute cat nap, she was good to go!
Next up, Great Wolf Lodge.
