Thanksgiving Week

We have done a lot over the last 5 days so let me get you up to speed!
We headed to Lawrence Wednesday night for Thanksgiving.  We enjoyed the Wednesday night party at my Uncle's house, complete with a fire pit, hot dogs and smores.  It was a very relaxing night, catching up with several of my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Fairlyn and my girls picked up right where they left off last Thanksgiving.  They had a blast....

late into the night.  We had to stay at a local hotel because my Aunt and Uncle's house was packed with lots of out of town guest.  But, the girls loved it because we got up and swam with Luke Thanksgiving morning.

Thanksgiving day was perfect.  We had 43 people at our Thanksgiving dinner.  The weather was beautiful and the kids had a great time.  It was hard to stop them to capture a picture, but I got a few.  Lauren helped me in the kitchen getting some food ready, and Addison hung out with Jessie all day.  I think we decided they are 3rd cousins....they had a blast together.  We took a picture of the 1st cousins that were present, but there were lots of us missing!  Sophie loved on Lauren a lot!
I had a great time catching up with my cousin Lora.  We stayed at the same hotel, so we were able to spend a lot of good time together.
This girl will pose for me every time (well almost!)  Complete with the huge stick in her hand as well.

Mark and Steve snuck away to catch up on their fantasy football scores.  The kids played on the sand volleyball court....without shoes and socks.  That is how nice it was outside on Thanksgiving day.  Zach, Jason, Mark and Steve played basketball for a while as well.  It was a great Thanksgiving day.  I have an amazing extended family that I truly adore.
I decided to hit a few stores Thanksgiving night on gray Thursday...it was an absolute mess.  As you can see Mark told me to punch people in the mouth...seriously...am I one of the guys you are talking to...um, no!  Walmart was a mad house, the Target line was wrapped around to the back of the store at 8:30, so I drove by and went home and headed to bed.  No amount of money is worth my time for the chaos of Black Friday or Gray Thursday.  I got up at 5:00 the next morning and got everything I wanted...and a Starbucks coffee on the way home.

I got the house completely decorated for Christmas the rest of the day Friday.  I go all out with my Christmas decorations.  We also sat around and watched the NE game...well Mark did...I took a nap!

Saturday morning I began preparing for the Thanksgiving meal that I was preparing for Mark's family.  They all arrived around noon on Saturday to celebrate Thanksgiving.  Asking Addison to peel potatoes did not work out so well...she is still a little young for that.
So while I worked in the kitchen the girls hung out with me.  They played on my phone, my I-pad, and even had dance party, complete with microphones of honey and peanut butter.

Zach, our elf showed up sometime this weekend.  I can't remember when, but hopefully he will keep an eye on the girls and give a good report to Santa this year.  Addison is kind of over him already.  She told me he is just a doll and has no magic...we will see how this goes this year.

Once our Harding cousins arrived Lauren was thrilled...and Addison was too.
I found this sugar cookie idea on Pinterest, so I had the kids working on it Saturday afternoon.

Addison could not wait for my help to put up new pictures of her cousins, so she did it her self.

Oh my word this kids had fun destroying playing in the basement this weekend.  Late Saturday night they were having a dance party with the Barbie dolls.  They were laughing and singing, and screaming and having a ton of fun.
Here are all the kids, minus Rae Ann who prefers to hang out with the adults now.
I grabbed her to come down and take a group picture with the all the kids.  My MIL always loves a picture of all her grand kids.
Complete with Barbie dolls, Jessie hats, Justin Bieber doll, crazy faces and pure excitement on all of their faces.

It was a great weekend.  So much to be thankful for.  But, now I can't wait for Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving

This year there are many things I am thankful for, but I will keep it very simple.  I am thankful for the art projects and notes that Lauren and Addison come home with each day.

This is Addison's hand, and it is a little hard to read...but it says she is thankful for Turkey!
Lauren wrote this song...and then sang it to me Wednesday morning!

THE SWEETEST THING EVER.  I LOVE HER!

And Addison...I am so thankful that she is 4 now and we have surived the terrible 2's and the terrible 3's.  She is slowly turning into a little angel, behaving better (although we have a long ways to go) and FINALLY going to sleep at night very quickly  after a 5 month battle EVERY night.  I am very thankful for that .

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Mark's Half Marathon (#3)

Mark ran the North Face Endurance Challenge this weekend.  He did the half marathon.  13.1 miles.  There was also a full marathon (26.2) and a 50K (31 miles), 10K and 5K.  By far this is the hardest half marathon in the city.  Much harder than Hospital Hill.  His time was 2:07:40.  Way to go Mark...and Shannon.

Of course we were there cheering him on every mile of the way...well not really, but we were able to cheer him on at 5 miles, 8 miles, 10 miles and again at the finish line.

Almost at mile 5 and Mark was warmed up, so he stripped off his coat and gave it to us and took off running again.

The girls tried to keep up for a short while.

Our next stop was right near Union Station, which was perfect, because we could see Mark and Shannon at mile 8 and mile 10 and not even have to get in the car and move at all.  We just walked.
And, we got to stay warm in the walkway connecting Crown Center to Union Station.  We waved to several runners from up above waiting for Mark and Shannon.  Well, I waved...the girls ran around and giggled.

Then we walked over just a block, took a potty break at Panera, played in the leaves and patiently waited.

Mile 10.  The guys looked great at this point.  They still had a huge hill to climb (right in front of the hospital) but then it was down hill to the finish line.

We hopped in the car again and headed down to the finish line.  There was a playground right there and the girls were thrilled.  They do really well at the races, waiting and waiting for that 30 seconds to give Daddy a high five, and maybe a hug and kiss.  They were so excited for the playground to kill some time while I looked for Mark and Shannon.

So close to the end!

Almost there!

Mark trained very hard for this race.  Ran long runs for the past several Saturday mornings, and very hilly runs.  He knew how hard this race was going to be, and he trained well.  He has felt great today!  I can't believe it.  Both of us will take a few months off from racing and training to enjoy the holidays.  We both have half marathons on the calendar for next spring!  It will be time to start training again before we know it.

The Weekend...A Quick Recap

The girls trees are finally changing colors, and we all love it.

Finalized the Christmas list's for the Grandma's.  Here is why it takes me so long to figure out who is going to buy what for the girls.  First, I must figure out what they want, then I have to figure out what Mark and I are going to buy them, then I divide the rest up among Grandma's and Aunts and Uncles.

Addison put her self in the corner....she deserved it!

We had 2 birthday parties on Sunday.  Addison's best friend Jenna turned 4.

We had a swim party for our neighbor down the street on Sunday afternoon as well.

We played a lot of games this weekend.

We sold Girl Scout cookies Saturday afternoon at the local Hy-vee.  Again, Lauren LOVES Girl Scouts.  She is working towards the top seller in her troop.  She has sold 291 boxes so far.

Sleeping Beauty was at Jenna's 4th Birthday party.  The girls were mesmerized.

Addison had fun at the pool party as well.  After the pool party we ALL came home and took naps before heading to Jenna's party.  We were tired.

Oh, and I cooked a turkey Saturday night.  A trial run, before Mark's family (14 of us total) come down for Thanksgiving.  I can't wait.  We are going to have a huge turkey dinner.

It was a somewhat low key weekend with nothing really going on Saturday, and Sunday was just all fun with the birthday parties.  That is life around here at the Harding house.
