Huskers Win

The good luck charm....Addison...not Mark....

What a HUGE WIN!!!

A Sneak Peak

Friday evening we carved our pumpkins.  We finally bought a pumpkin carving kit and they turned out great.  The girls helped a little!  Lauren got a little more dirty this year, and Addison just stood and watched for a while.  Then they were bored with it, so they ran around in the garage and giggled, while Mark and  I did all the work.

They both enjoyed the finished product, so that made it all worth it!

Addison did not want to get down and dirty...of course not...our Addison is little Ms. Clean!

Lauren as Jesse from Toy Story 3...She had a field trip today at school to go and trick or treat at a retirement home.  She loved it.

Addison as Minnie Mouse.  Her favorite character from Disney World this summer.

We have a fun filled busy weekend.  We are looking forward to all the fun.

Our Best Attempt at Family Pictures

So the look on Addison's face pretty much sums up the way she felt about taking family pictures and cooperating for the pictures.  We told her to sit in Mark's lap, she would stand.  We told her to stand next to Lauren she would run away and sit.  We asked Lauren to put her arm around Addison, Addison would scream...so this is what we got.  A crazy attempt at family pictures with a 2 year old!  Thank you Addison for making it so memorable!  Thank you Lauren for being a trooper and listening to the photographer so well!
I acutally kind of like this picture.  A day we will not forget.

We got the best pictures of Addison when we were just letting her do her own thing...

We wanted Addison to sit by me...of course she did not listen!

She is tired of this...but I love the look on Lauren's face.  She was the best!

I did not post  any of Mark and the girls because he says he does not like to look at pictures of himself...so you have me and the girls.  These pictures turned out great...I just wish the wind would not have been blowing so bad.

I like this one too (but Lauren's eyes are almost closed...and well there is a guy in the background :( )

This was at the end when we were just letting the girls fun free and laugh and play.  Some of my favorite pictures of the whole day.

Pictures

Last week we headed out to Loose Park for some professional family pictures.  They were taken by Briana from Shades of Gray Photography.  She did an amazing job, considering she was working with a very spunky 2 year old named Addison.  We did not get a really great family picture, but the ones we did get tell a story about the day and the uncooperativeness of Addison.

The pictures captured of Addison and Lauren alone are great.  These are a few of my favorites.

Trying to get pictures of the two of them together was just about impossible.  But, these two I love.

Especially this one!

I will share our attempt at family pictures next.

KC Marathon

Today was the KC Marathon.  I ran in it...as a team member of a relay...4.0 miles in 37:55 (9 minute and 28 second mile.)  I was pleasantly surprised with that time.  The last 2 miles of my leg were all up hill.  Very tough!

This is the only picture I got because I did not have my camera on the course with me.  That is the only disadvantage to a nice SLR camera, the size of course.  Mark and the girls were waiting for me at the end of my finish line to cheer me on.  I love seeing them at the end of my races!  Then I joined my friend Kelly for the last 1/2 mile or so of her leg and Mark and the girls were there cheering me on for that again too!

Our team name was the Tacky Cardias (we all work in Cardiology at CMH.)  We wore crazy socks and hair bows.  Our shirts said "The faster you run, the faster you're done."  We had a great time!  We finished in 4 hours and 31 minutes overall.

I hope to get some more pictures from my teammates later this week.  Stay tuned!
Kelli and I....we have lunch together everyday!  It is so much fun!

Go Tacky Cardias.  This is at 6:30 in the morning before the race.  We met at the hospital and then walked down to the starting line.  It was a cold start.

This is how far each of us ran.  Go Team!  Don't you just love the socks!

Here we are almost at the end.  We all met and then ran in together with our last runner, Ashley.  She was hot, tired and happy to see us at the end!

Here we are making a strong finish.  It was a great experience, a great thing to train for and work for.  I hope to keep it up over the winter months and run my first 10K next spring or summer.

I have to give Mark a special thank you for allowing me the time to train for such an event.  Without his support I could have never done it.  He is hoping to do a 10K in the spring and a mini triathlon in the summer.  Go Mark!  It feels so good to be in such good shape both physically and mentally.
