Addison's First Year

Over on the right hand column I have started adding pictures of Addison from her first year. With her birthday coming up in just one week I thought it would be fun to see how much she has changed over this first year. I am trying to post pictures that I have not posted before, pictures people have not seen yet. I will try and add more later this week. We are getting so excited for her party on Saturday. It is going to be a great day!

Lauren Loves to Cook

So lately Lauren is always wanting to help me cook dinner. She brings the chair from the kitchen table over to the counter so she can help. She looks at the recipe card and puts her finger on it and says "What do we need next Mommy." I have been explaining to her how to measure things out, crack the eggs, add salt and pepper, etc. She really likes pouring things into the bowl and stirring everything together.

Last week I made chicken parmesan and this is a picture of Lauren with the Shake and Bake. "It's Shake and Bake and I helped." It is really a great way to spend some time together and bond. Our evenings are so short by the time we get home from work that it makes cooking dinner a little more enjoyable. On the nights that we are having left overs she is sad because she can't help Mommy cook dinner! Addison is doing awesome these days. Isn't she always though? She will be one next week and we just can't believe it! She finally has another tooth (only two total) and is trying so hard to walk. She pulls up on everything and cruises along the couch, but she much prefers to just sit on the ground and scoot along. We are having her party this weekend, mainly just family, but it should be a lot of fun. Mark's Mom and Brother are coming down and so is Kate- our niece. We are looking forward to having them at the party.

Look for pictures from the big first birthday next week!

The Royals Game

Back in May I went to Ladies Night at the "K" with some girls from work. Well apparently we are on the website now. If you click on the link below and go down to the bottom to photo gallery we are in Gallery 4. We are the first picture that comes up in that gallery.

It was such a fun night with all the girls from work. There was great food and drinks and lots of fun stuff to take part in. Hopefully we will go again next year!

Ms. Pat's Carnival

This is our 3rd year attending the carnival that Lauren's teacher at school hosts. Her church puts on a free everything carnival...games, food, pony rides, EVERYTHING...We always have fun. Just Lauren and I attended this year. Addison was not feeling very well on Saturday so Mark stayed home with her.

We sat in the shade and watched the clowns hand out balloons to everyone. We looked at all the animals in the petting zoo. There were rabbits, donkeys, goats, and ponies.

We played all the carnival games...

Twice...and won lots of great prizes (junk!)

We got our face painted...

and we loved it!

Just as we were getting ready to leave Killian showed up. So of course we had to stay and play with Killian and Seth...Lauren's friends from school.
When I asked Lauren what her favorite part of the carnival was she said "playing all the games, and seeing Killian and Seth."

"Dance class is fun Mommy"

Well Lauren went to her first official dance class tonight and she did great. We had a long talk about how she was a big girl and she would be in the studio all by herself with the other little girls taking dance and the teacher Ms. Kendra (who is great!) Lauren walked in, put on her tap shoes and was ready to go. So Addison and I headed out to the hallway to hang out with all the other parents.

The best part about dance class for me is that two of my high school friends have their daughters in dance class on Wednesday evenings as well. So for an hour Jenny, Jamie and I sat there and chatted. It was actually very fun and very relaxing. Jenny's daughter Camryn is in the same class as Lauren. I am sure those two will have a great time together.

When dance class was over the teacher called the parents in to discuss the first performance...excuse me? We have been to one dance class and we already have a performance...It is in 2 weeks at the Lee's Summit October Fest. The girls need to wear black pants, red shirt, pink ballet shoes, hair pulled half way back on top, the rest curled, and be there 45 minutes early...hmmmm...I don't know about this dance stuff...I am so not into Toddlers and Tieras (as seen on TLC.) I think we will skip the first performance. I already have plans, and well Lauren has white ballet shoes and not pink...

Anyway, here is a cute picture of the girls playing together this past weekend. At this age they play so well together. Lauren is always teaching Addison about everything and helping her out.

Go Bearcats!

Saturday afternoon NWMSU and Pitt State played at Arrowhead for the 8 time. It is such a huge rival for the bearcats and the gorillas and always a lot of fun. NWMSU has won 6 out of the 8 games, including Saturday's game. Mark and I always go with Amy and Shannon. We have only missed a few of the games. This year we decided to bring Lauren and Aiden along. Man did they have fun together. Lauren and Aiden in the front row watching the game.

We got there early to tailgate and the kids had a blast. When we first arrived Aiden was asleep in the car. Mark and Shannon went to get the tickets while Amy and I got everything unpacked. Lauren helped us unpack as well and get food set out on the table. Amy and I cracked open a beer and sat down and started to chat. Lauren was just standing there looking at us and she says "What are we going to do now...just stand here." It was so funny. So we explained to her what tailgating was...eating, drinking (juice for the kids) and having fun with our friends. We told her Aiden would be awake soon and the fun would begin. I got them football cups from the party store and they loved them.

Aiden and Lauren spent time sitting the back of the car talking, laughing, playing. They played swords together, and even played with a football and kickball. They were so hot and sweaty but they had a blast. When I asked Lauren what her favorite part of the day was she said "Running around with Aiden."

Bobby Bearcat came off the field and into the stands to greet everybody. Well if you know Lauren you know how scared she is of any kind of mascot. Aiden talked to Bobby Bearcat and got his picture taken with him. Lauren kept her eye on him until she could no longer see him. She is sitting here watching him. Making sure he does not come anywhere near her!

We missed little Addison but decided to leave her at home with Ms. Amanda from school. Ms Amanda adores her and Addison just screams and smiles each day she sees Ms. Amanda so we knew she would take great care of her! Ms. Amanda said she was a little fussy at bedtime, but otherwise they had a great evening. Addison even took an hour nap for Ms. Amanda. Something she never does for us. Maybe next year Addison will join us for the game. It is always fun with Amy, Shannon, and Aiden. Great memories for the kids. Lauren's first football game.

Dance Class

Lauren took her first dance class last night. I think she had a lot of fun. Of course it took about 20 minutes for her to let go of my leg and realize that dance class would be fun. We both stood on the line with the other little girls in their dance clothes and dance shoes and participated. Lauren looked up at me and said "Mommy I need dance tights and dance shoes." I guess if she is going to dance class then we need dance clothes, dance tights, tap shoes, and ballet shoes.

We are going to give it another try next week. I will not be in the class with her. I will be out in the hall. We had a long talk on the way home about Mommy being out in the hall if she gets scared. So I am off to buy dance clothes and dance shoes. I sure hope they get used! Only time will tell...

Deanna Rose

We love Deanna Rose Farmstead. It is a free petting zoo, fishing place, goat feeding, educational, pony rides, and much much more place. I wish we lived closer so we could go out there more often. It was a great day and the girls had a blast. At the end of each activity I always ask Lauren what her favorite part of the day was. Today she said feeding the duckies with Daddy.
There are sheep, cows, goats, bunnies, turkeys, pigs, donkeys, bobcats, eagles, and buffalo at Deanna Rose Farmstead. Lauren and Mark were looking at the cows here.

Several stops along the way Lauren agreed to stop and pose for me as I snapped some pictures of her!

Happy 11 month Birthday Addison

This year has gone by must faster than Lauren's first year. I can't believe Addison will be one next month! Where has the time gone? I got some great pictures of her today as well. She really loved watching the cows, ducks, rabbits, and goats. I always wonder what is going through their little minds when they are looking at new things they have never seen before.

Lauren giving Addison a hug. Sometimes I have to tell her not to squeeze too hard. She just really loves her.

What a cutie!!!

Lauren posing for another picture. She stopped on several benches and yelled "take another picture Mommy."

The Moon

So today we all headed out to the Legends to do some shopping. With the weather turning a little cooler we needed to get some clothes for Lauren. She had about 4 shirts, 3 dresses, and one pair of jeans before today.

We were in the Gap Outlet looking at clothes when I found some pants for Lauren. She is so skinny that I never know what size pants to buy her. I had a 3T pair and a 4T pair. I told Lauren we needed to try them on so I could figure out which pair to get her. I started looking through some more clothes and then I noticed Lauren pulling down her pants (and panties too) so she could try on the pants!

I said "Lauren, what are you doing?"
"I am trying on the pants Mommy, and my panties came down too."
"Lauren pull your pants back up. We only try on clothes in the dressing room."
"Oh, sorry Mommy."

What a fun day of shopping. We came home with tons of new clothes, spent a lot of money, and enjoyed lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Our first experience with Cheeseburger in Paradise was actually in paradise. It was in Honolulu along Waikiki Beach. We had dinner there one of the first nights we were in Hawaii for our one year anniversary. We watched the sunset over Waikiki Beach as we ate dinner. Ahhh...paradise.
