Go Big Red

Saturday morning we headed up to Lincoln for the Husker football game.  It was the first game for the girls and a day Mark has been dreaming of for years.  Taking his girls to the Nebraska game.  We had so much fun.  We hit the pool at the hotel for a quick swim before heading out to dinner.  

We had dinner at Applebee's and then headed down to the stadium.  

We parked about 6 blocks away and walked to the campus.  We got there in plenty of time,  so we walked around outside for a little while before heading in. 

These fans (and football helmets) were a hit!  I could hardly get a picture of the girls without them after someone gave them to us.  

The girls insisted on sitting down instead of exploring.  They didn't want to miss the start of the 

game.  It was 68 minutes until game time...I think we had plenty of time.  The game didn't even start till 8:10 Saturday night.  It was a late night for sure. 

After a while they decided we could get up and check out the stadium.  

But, first we had to get more pictures with the football helmet.  

We watched the Huskers warm up for a while, until we got hit with a football...so them we moved!  It was only on our hand, but it got our attention for sure.  

When the girls and I were out exploring, we stumbled upon the players coming out of the locker room.  Super fun and exciting!

Our seats were amazing.  30 rows up in the end zone...where 3 touchdowns were scored in the 2nd quarter.  

The energy and excitement at Memorial Stadium is the best.  It is jam packed in that stadium and so loud and exciting.  

The pre game show was even fun to watch.  

Then it was time for the game and the tunnel run!  

Red balloons are handed out before the game and you hold onto them until Nebraska scores.  After they score, you let them go.  That was awesome. 

The girls and I walked around for a while in the 2nd quarter since they were getting a little restless in their seats.  

We  had the best seats though.  No one was in front of us.  So, the girls could stand up, lean against this rail if they wanted, and see everything.  

We enjoyed exploring the stadium.  We came back to our seats with pretzels and pizza.  Nothing like 2nd dinner at 9:30 at night!  We stayed for almost the entire game.  There was about 5 minutes left when we left our seats and about 1 minute left when we got out of the stadium.  At this point it was after 11:30 and Addison was tired.  Lauren did amazing the entire game, but poor Addison was so tried and kept saying "I want a bed to go to sleep in."  So, we left and got back to the hotel around 12:30 in the morning!  It was well worth it though.  

It was a great night and an amazing weekend.  We can't wait to do it again.  

Tiny Titan Dance Camp

A few weeks ago the girls participated in a dance camp and then cheered and danced at the Lee's Summit West football game Friday night game!  Since I took so many pictures, I had to break this event up into 2 posts! 

Here they are at the game Friday night.

But, lets back up to Thursday night when they had camp.  Jenna joined Addison for the camp, but decided not to dance Friday night.  

They spent 2 hours learning the dance.  I was shocked how well they knew it by the end of the night!

Addison kept a close eye on her coach (Jackie's older sister.) 

Lauren and Jackie had a great night together!

Addison had a blast learning from Breanna!  They practiced again Friday night before heading out to the game to cheer and dance at half time.  Those pictures will be up soon!  

Family Hike

The girls love to explore the neighborhood.  We moved over the summer and we are near some woods so a few times we have hiked back there and explored.  There is a new phase to our neighborhood being built, so we have walked over there from time to time to check the progress and see if any houses are being built yet.  This past weekend when it was so beautiful outside, we decided to go hiking.  We found a nice paved/gravel trail through Unity Village that ended up being close to 3 miles.  

Lauren has been hiking a few times on the Girl Scout campgrounds, but Addison has not.  

Yes, Addison is hiking in a dress (at least tennis shoes are on) and collecting rocks to throw is the river and lake.  

If you look real close you can see a deer in the picture.  Lauren spotted it first and we were shocked at how long it stood there and watched us, then walked towards us.  That was definitely a high light of the hike.  

Making it to the lake was also a high light to the hike.  

Of course, we had to stop and have a snack.  Hiking makes you hungry and well we are raising hobbits so they had to eat.  

Leave it to Addison to incorporate a dance/ballet move into her hiking with the stick.  

Anyway, it was fun.  A beautiful day and a great family activity.  Both girls are eager to go to another location and hike and explore.  

Wrapping up Summer

I found some random fun pictures on my phone this evening that I thought I would share.  Summer flew by and we are full speed ahead with school, dance, Girl Scouts and Church class in session.  But, before we head into fall, football, pumpkin patches and apple picking let's look at summer.  

We hit the city pool one weekend in August when Mark was out of town.  The girls and I spent over 4 hours there.  We took a few breaks to eat snacks...and take naps.  

The next day we hit the neighborhood pool for a Girl scout swim party.  This little Diva had fun too! 

We headed to Omaha for Labor Day weekend and went to the Zoo.  #1 in the USA.  We loved the zoo.  

Lauren and Kate ran around together...

Addison tagged along with Emma.

Then dance started and Lauren and Jackeline were reunited.  BFF's for sure! 

Addison is taking a Tap/Jazz combo class one night, and a ballet class another night.  

Lauren has Tap, Jazz, and Ballet...3 different nights.  Needless to say, we will be spending a lot of time at the dance studio this year.
